The woman, whose name has not been released to protect the privacy of her family, was killed when she was hit by a rear tire that spun off the Top Fuel dragster driven by Antron Brown , one of the most popular drivers in N.H.R.A. Brown was not injured in the incident. “It felt like the back end just dropped out and the car started pitching end over end,” Brown said in an interview with SpeedTV.com. “I saw a little burst of flame come around my head, and I saw sparks.” The Arizona Republic reported that the fatality was believed to be the first since the mid 1970s of a nonparticipant at an N.H.R.A. event. The association said Sunday that the woman was taken by helicopter to Good Samaritan Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. “Safety is N.H.R.A.’s top priority, for not only our racers, but the millions of fans who attend events around the country,” the association said in a statement on Monday. Brown was driving a car for Don Schumacher Racing, one of the top teams in the sport. Brown was in a first-round race against Troy Buff. Brown’s 8,000-horsepower dragster, in the right lane, wobbled as it pulled from the starting line, and the car lost its rear left wheel. Brown’s car then abruptly swerved on its side into the left lane, behind the car driven by Buff, then hit the left retaining wall, exploding into flames. The tire appeared to be sent airborne by Brown’s car, hitting the woman, whom KNXV-TV reported was seated near a mobile home on the other side of two barriers. Don Schumacher, the owner of the team, said Monday in a statement, “Don Schumacher Racing is one of the leading advocates for safety in the N.H.R.A., and we will continue to be at the forefront of safety. Safety is and always has been our paramount concern. Therefore, we intend to do everything in our power to carefully investigate this matter as efficiently and thoroughly as possible. “We ask for your patience, and assure you that we will have more to report as information becomes available to us. In the meantime, we extend our sympathies and ask everyone to keep the victim of yesterday’s tragedy, as well as her family and friends, in your thoughts and prayers.” Rain later Sunday forced officials to complete the Arizona Nationals on Monday. Two Don Schumacher Racing drivers won: Cory McClenathan in the Top Fuel classification, and Jack Beckman in the Funny Car classification.

I have finally accumulated 95% of the parts needed to finish it. I’m going to run an air shifted liberty box, ace racing clutch, koni electric shocks, we are dry sumping it etc, all of the good stuff. I’m hoping to have it ready for the Winter nationals in June, but I’m not going to push it. Good to see the skyline back out there mate, good luck with the new set up. Rob.

Remote Tuning and Support from Shane TNow you can have the expertise of one of North America's top tuners onsite at your dyno session or for your event, without paying for travel expenses! That's right anywhere in the world - all you will need is a laptop and a connection to the internet and Shane T can remotely tune your engine, evaluate your data and make changes in real time. No need to hassle with email attachments or try and have a phone conversation about what to do at a noisy racetrack. How it WorksShane provides each user with an access code and password which he can use to remotely control your laptop or other PC remotely over the internet. All that is needed is a stable connection to the internet. Hi speed internet is recommended but not necessary as Shane has had much success using 56K modem connections at both ends. It is as if Shane is there in person controlling the laptop. Everything the laptop has access to, Shane has access as well. In fact the best situation for tuning involves loading the ECU control software onto the dyno machine. That way Shane can see the Dyno data and the ECU control data as well. There is even an live chat option that allows you to be in constant contact with Shane while the tuning session is in progress. The chat log can be saved to your laptop for later viewing. This is especially helpful when learning the steps to perform a function. Advantages
